Strengthening Leadership in Education

On April 8 to May 3, 2013, the PSHS System key officials engaged in a four-week leadership program in Australia.
Sponsored by the Australian government, the leadership program entitled “Strengthening Education Leadership in the Philippine Science High School System” oriented the key officials of the PSHS System with the current reforms in education particularly in educational management, curriculum development, support services and inclusive education. Developing individual and group action plans were also part of the training.
PSHS Scholars Immersed in the Community this Summer

Around 45 PSHS scholars were welcomed by the University of the Philippines’ National Institute for Physics (UP-NIP) for a 1-month Summer Science Internship Program (SSIP) on April 17, 2013 in Diliman, Quezon City.

A Step Closer for PSHS CARAGA Campus

On April 1, 2013, the Deed of Donation of a 5-hectare lot in Barangay Ampayon, Butuan City was officially signed. The land, which was then a property of the Guingona family, will be the future site of Philippine Science High School (PSHS) CARAGA Campus. Signing the deed were Former Vice President Teofisto T. Guingona, Sr. and Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Mario G. Montejo.
“Construction of the buildings for PSHS-CARAGA will start in January 2014, in time for the opening of classes for the coming School Year 2014 to 2015,” said Dr. Josette T. Biyo, PSHS System Executive Director.
